Set up Google Search Console for a new website

Connect your website to Google Search Console so Google indexes it and you can see search performance. Uses domain verification via DNS.

The steps (6)
  1. Go to search.google.com/search-console and sign in
  2. Click 'Add property' — property dropdown, top left
  3. Choose 'Domain' property type and enter your domain
  4. Copy the TXT verification record Google shows
  5. Open your DNS provider and add the TXT record — DNS management page
  6. Return to Search Console and click 'Verify' — may take a few minutes for DNS to propagate
